About TaxMaxi
TaxMaxi is a web app for anyone in Germany with crypto on Solana: it reads the transactions of your wallets, values them in euros and turns them into a tax report under German law.
In short
TaxMaxi is built in Berlin by Maximilian Ast, founder and managing director of TaxMaxi UG (haftungsbeschränkt).
TaxMaxi calculates under the German Income Tax Act and the BMF letter of 6 March 2025. Every item in the report names the paragraph of the letter it rests on.
Who's behind it

Maximilian Ast
Founder and managing director
I've been working in crypto for years and have written smart contracts on EVM chains and on Solana. My own taxes still meant hours of fixing transactions by hand, so I built TaxMaxi. If something looks off, just message me. I reply myself.

What TaxMaxi does
- 1
You add a wallet address
Only the public address: no key and no connection to the wallet. TaxMaxi can't move anything.
- 2
TaxMaxi reads every transaction
By fixed rules: a swap, a transfer between your own wallets, a staking reward. Each one says which rule applied and why.
- 3
TaxMaxi values it in euros
Every item at the price of the moment it moved.
- 4
TaxMaxi asks you what the blockchain doesn't know
Where no rule applies, TaxMaxi doesn't guess. AI looks into what most likely happened and suggests an answer; you confirm it or pick another.
- 5
You get your tax report
For every tax year, as a PDF, with every item and the paragraph of the BMF letter it rests on.
What TaxMaxi rests on
On the German Income Tax Act, above all § 23 for sales and § 22 Nr. 3 for income such as staking rewards, and on the BMF letter of 6 March 2025, in which the Federal Ministry of Finance sets out how tax offices treat crypto. What an app, a wallet or an AI says about a transaction is only a hint: the rules decide, and where they don't reach, you do.
-
The BMF letter
In full, paragraph by paragraph, in German. Every TaxMaxi rule names the paragraphs it rests on.
-
Crypto taxes in Germany
The principles TaxMaxi calculates by, in plain words, in German.
-
Solana protocols
Which protocols TaxMaxi reads, each with a real transaction and an example in euros, in German.
-
The rules manual
Every rule with a real transaction or a worked example, checked again with every change.
Common questions
What is TaxMaxi?
TaxMaxi is a web app for anyone in Germany with crypto on Solana: it reads the transactions of your wallets, values them in euros and turns them into a tax report under German law.
For every item in the report, TaxMaxi shows which rule produced it and which paragraph of the BMF letter that rule rests on.
Who is behind TaxMaxi?
Maximilian Ast, who builds TaxMaxi in Berlin as founder and managing director of TaxMaxi UG (haftungsbeschränkt). He answers questions himself, by email at [email protected], on X, Telegram or LinkedIn.
Who is TaxMaxi for?
For anyone who pays tax in Germany and holds or has held crypto in Solana wallets, whether they swap, stake or lend. You don't need to know about taxes or blockchains: whatever the blockchain doesn't tell, TaxMaxi asks you in plain words.
What is the calculation based on?
On the German Income Tax Act, above all § 23 for sales and § 22 Nr. 3 for income such as staking rewards, and on the BMF letter of 6 March 2025, which sets out how tax offices treat crypto. Every principle names the paragraphs of the letter it rests on.
Does TaxMaxi need access to my wallet?
No. You only enter your wallet's public address. With it, TaxMaxi reads the transactions that are public on the blockchain anyway. It needs no key and no connection to the wallet, and it can't move anything.
Is TaxMaxi tax advice?
No. TaxMaxi is software that calculates and shows every step. It doesn't replace a tax advisor. You can hand your report to yours: every item names its date, amount and the paragraph it rests on.
